Why should you become a member
or donate time or money?

  • We are often asked what do we do?

  • What do we accomplish?

  • Why should I donate my hard earned money?

Here is a quick run down of our progress through the first six months of this year. We know that this organization must make good on its mission to elect good Democrats from here to D.C., and we hold ourselves accountable to you - our members who support and provide resources for us to reach our goals. We are excited that we've made so much progress already in 2011, and look forward to even more success (with your help) as we enter 2012.

E-mails: Our e-mail contact list has grown from 330 to 436, an increase of 32%.
Contributors: In 2010, an election year, we had 65 people make a financial contribution to our club. Only halfway through this year - a non-election year - we already have 57 contributors.
Contributions: We have received just over $2,500 in contributions so far this year. At this time last year (again, an election year) we had raised only $1,274 - roughly half of our total this year.
Sustainers: We have signed up five people to give automatic monthly contributions to our club for a total of $40.00/month.
Phone Calls: We’ve called all 1,047 “super voters” (Democrats who have voted in every election since 2004) in DeLand to identify more volunteers and contributors while updating contact information. Now, in July, we’ve begun doing the same thing for Orange City. We’ve also made over 200 additional phone calls to targeted Democrats in some of our personal and professional networks.
Voter Contact Information: We’ve updated contact information (phone numbers, e-mails and addresses) for 92 voters in our Voter Access Network database - meaning that we will be able to keep in touch with 92 more voters in 2012 than we would have otherwise (and will now not use resources to fail to connect to those 92 voters’ old contact information).
Volunteers: We have signed up 66 people to adopt yard signs, 47 to adopt bumper stickers, 29 to make phone calls, 12 to do door-to-door canvassing, and 10 to help do data entry.
Newsletter: We have released a monthly newsletter each month since January, with each issue containing updates from club leadership, editorials from club members, profiles of members or precincts in our area, political knowledge quizzes, and upcoming events of interest to area Democrats.

During the 2010 election cycle,
Here is a list of just some of the things we did to help Democrats:

  1. Delivered palm cards to the homes of over 25,000 democrats in western Volusia County.

  2. Distributed palm cards to 2000 visitors to the Rivertown Arts and Crafts Festival.

  3. Monitored early and regular voting in the primary, including openings and closings.

  4. Opened a Democratic Headquarters in downtown DeLand.

  5. Held Grand Opening with approximately 350 visitors.

  6. Held a Wine and Cheese fundraiser with approximately 90 visitors in conjunction with the Democratic Women’s Club of VC.

  7. Ordered 400 Sink signs for Volusia County. Neither the DEC or the other clubs were able to order these signs, so they were distributed throughout the entire county.

  8. Oversaw and managed the Democratic Rally at Stetson on Oct. 2 with several hundred visitors.

  9. Arranged Andy Kelly Meet and Greet on August 6.

  10. Arranged Eunice Garbutt Meet and Greet on August 13.

  11. Coordinated extensive phone banking and canvassing with Ashley Thomas, Community Organizer from the FDP, resulting in over 35,000 phone calls.

  12. Coordinated Monsters on Mainstreet with all democratic candidates. Distributed palm cards and candidate literature to 5000 families 3 days before the election.

  13. Handed out an additional 1500 palm cards to trick-or-treating families on the West Minnesota Ave block party 2 days before the election.

  14. Hand out palm cards at the Chili Cookoff on Oct. 16.

  15. Developed a contact list of over 450 democrats who have shown interest in being actively involved in working for the party. Most of these names we have emails for, and this list will be saved electronically in a flash drive as well as in googledocs, so that we can immediately contact all of them in 2012 with little effort.

  16. Emailed the entire contact list (in 12 above) on at least 15 occasions concerning parties, candidates coming to town, meetings, opportunities to spread the democratic agenda, etc.

  17. Recruited, trained, coordinated and supervised approximately 30 poll watchers, 10 poll greeters, 50 phone bankers and 4 drivers on Election Day.

    Help Build our Party Locally!
    Become a Monthly Sustainer

    • Sustainers are supporters who donate a certain amount monthly ($5 minimum).
The amount is automatically deducted once a month from your credit card or checking account, as you prefer, and you can stop sustaining any time.
Sustainers are important to building our financial strength and reducing the amount of time we spend fundraising so we can spend more time building our party and getting Democrats elected.
    • To become a sustainer, you will need a PayPal account - if you do not have one, you can create a PayPal account as you subscribe to the Monthly Sustainer program.
Each month the amount you choose will be deducted automatically from your PayPal account.
